Aircon Not Cooling
The unit runs but the air isn't cold. Common causes include low gas, a dirty coil or a compressor that isn't starting.
Aircon Repairs
Aircon not cooling, leaking water or refusing to switch on? Advanced Aircons carries out air conditioning repairs for homes and businesses across Johannesburg and the East Rand. We find the real cause of the fault and fix it properly.
When an aircon stops working, the fault you can see is often not the real problem. A unit that isn't cooling could be low on gas, have a blocked coil, a failing capacitor or a faulty sensor. Guessing gets expensive.
We start every repair with a proper diagnosis. Once we know what's wrong, we explain it in plain language and give you a quote before any work is done.
These are the faults we're called out for most often. If yours isn't on the list, get in touch and tell us what the unit is doing.
The unit runs but the air isn't cold. Common causes include low gas, a dirty coil or a compressor that isn't starting.
Water dripping from the indoor unit usually means a blocked drain line or a frozen coil. We clear the blockage and fix the cause.
No power, no lights or no response from the remote can point to an electrical fault, a failed PC board or a tripped supply.
If the gas is low, there's a leak somewhere. We find and repair the leak, then regas the system to the correct pressure.
Rattling, buzzing or a musty smell are early warning signs. Getting them checked now can prevent a bigger repair later.
A flashing light, an error code on the display or a unit that trips the power all need a proper diagnosis.
Not every faulty aircon needs replacing, and not every old one is worth fixing. As a general guide, a repair makes sense when:
Replacement is usually the better option when the compressor has failed on an older unit, or when the unit keeps breaking down. Either way, we'll give you an honest recommendation.

The most common causes are a dirty filter or coil, low refrigerant gas from a leak, or a fault with the compressor or its capacitor. Check that the filter is clean and the remote is set to cool. If it still isn't cooling, it needs a technician.
Usually because the drain line is blocked with dirt or algae, so the water backs up and overflows from the indoor unit. It can also happen when the coil freezes because of low gas or poor airflow. Switch the unit off and get it checked to avoid damage to your wall or ceiling.
It depends on the fault and the parts needed. We diagnose the problem first and give you a clear quote before any repair work starts.
Often, yes. If the fault is with a single part and the unit has otherwise cooled well, a repair is usually the cheaper option. If the compressor has failed on an older unit or it keeps breaking down, replacing it tends to make more sense. We'll give you an honest recommendation either way.
